Many people want a Persian cat because of their looks and others want this type of cat because of the Persian cat personality traits. Either way, it can be difficult to resist Persian cats. They are adorable, loving, unique, and laid back. With this being said, there are some things that you might want to know about Persian cats before you get one as a pet. 

Loving and Friendly Cat

If you are looking for a loving and friendly cat, there are going to be many cat breeds that fit this bill. Persian cats are some of the most loving and friendly cats. They are calm with their owners and usually with strangers, as well. This cat breed loves to be held and they will sneak up on your lap. They purr quite loudly to show you their love. If you can deal with the constant maintenance they need for their grooming, this might be a cat that you want to get.

Just keep in mind that if you do have a noisier household, have someplace where your cat can get some peace and quiet when needed. With this being said, no matter what is going on, they are likely to be laid back and calm. Being chill is just part of their nature. While some Persian cats do like to get outdoors, most of the time they are content being indoors all the time. 

Not All that Smart

If you are looking for a smart cat, you probably won’t want to get a Persian cat. Out of all the Persian cat personality traits, intelligence doesn’t rank on the list. When comparing Persian cats to other cat breeds, they just aren’t as smart. It can be difficult to train a Persian cat as a pet. Most Persian cats don’t understand what you are asking them to do. However, it is important to note, that some Persian cats will surprise you.

They will purr a lot and let you know when they are around. While they aren’t all that intelligent, these cats are beautiful and they do make for a great pet.
