The Chesapeake Bay Retriever Breed

When these dogs were bred, the puppies and interbred, different retrievers were born. These included the curly-coated, flat-coated, and otterhound retrievers. Eventually, these were all considered to the Chesapeake Bay retrievers.

The Curly-Coated Retriever Breed

To this day, you can still get one of the curly-coated retrievers. This is one of the retrievers that has been around for the longest. The curly-coated retriever came from the St. John’s Newfoundland dog. They are different from other retrievers because of their tight, small, water-resistance, and crisp coat.

These dogs are great for hunting because they are very smart, committed, and easy to train. If you are looking for a more independent retriever breed, this is it.

The Flat-Coated Retriever Breed

This is the retriever breed that was crossbred from spaniels, sheepdogs, setters, and the Newfoundland dogs. They are related closely to the labs. However, the flat-coated retrievers have more elegance and they are skinnier, too.

If you are looking for a retriever dog that has the most beautiful coat with a unique head, this is the dog for you. They even have a kind expression for those who are looking for more of a support dog.

The Golden Retriever Breed

One of the most popular retriever breeds is the Golden Retriever. These dogs were originally founded in the later 1800s in the Scottish Highlands. Dudley Marjoribanks was the founder of this breed. He wanted to breed a superior retriever that would do well in the climate where he lived. The Golden Retriever came from a yellow wavy-coated retriever puppy and a tweed water spaniel.

The puppies from this litter turned out to be beautiful yellow labrador retriever dogs. They were called Golden Retrievers. These dogs had amazing physical abilities. They were very smart and loving, too

To this day, these dogs are called the American golden retriever.

The Labrador Retriever Breed

Another one of the retriever breeds that you may want to look into is the labrador retriever. There are different versions of this dog. However, the labrador retriever started in the northeastern areas of Canada. Fishermen wanted a dog that loved the water and was eager to please their owners.
